Job Description

• Provide safe patient care using nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
• Deliver direct patient care within scope of practice in Labor and Delivery.
• Guide patient/family teaching and supervise other nursing personnel.
• Maintain standards of care in the Birthplace.
• Respond quickly and accurately to changes in patient condition or treatment response.
• Ensure a safe environment for patients and visitors.
• Utilize chain of command to ensure patient well-being and appropriate care for newborns and mothers during antepartum and postpartum periods.

Required Credentials and Certifications for Onboarding

• Professional Training:

  • Prime CA Sexual Harassment Prevention Training (valid for 2 years)
  • Prime OIG
  • Prime Criminal Background Check (National, within 1 year)
  • Prime Agency Attestation
  • Prime SAM/EPLS
  • Prime Form I-9 (Employment eligibility verification)
  • Name Verification Affidavit (if applicable)
• Licenses:

  • Active RN license with Primary Source Verification within 30 days of start
  • Nursys verification may be required
• Certifications:

  • AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring
  • BLS (American Heart Association or Red Cross)
  • DCI/BVP (can be completed via Relias or similar)
• Testing and Exams:

  • Prime Basic Pharmacology Exam (minimum 80%)
  • Prime Core Competencies Exam (minimum 80%)
  • Prime Skills Checklist
  • Prime Specialty Exam (minimum 80%)
• Health Requirements:

  • COVID-19 Vaccine
  • MMR (Proof of 2 vaccines or positive titer)
  • Fit Test (Annual respirator fit test; can be completed onsite with notice)
  • Hepatitis B (3 doses or titers required)
  • Influenza Vaccine or declination (required October 1 - May 31)
  • TB Test (within 1 year of start date)
  • Varicella (Vaccination or titer showing immunity)
  • Tdap (Declinations not accepted)
  • Positive PPD with Negative Chest X-Ray (optional, if applicable)
  • Physical/Health Statement (annual; must be completed within 60 days of start)
  • Prime Drug Screening (minimum 10-panel urine test excluding THC plus THC saliva test; within 60 days of start)
  • Prime Color-blind Test (Relias accepted)
• Identification:

  • Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport

• All exams require a minimum passing score of 80%, except where noted.
• Drug screening complies with California law regarding marijuana testing.
• Some credentials and exams are facility-specific and must be completed prior to or during orientation.
• Orientation includes coverage of sexual harassment prevention and other essentials.
