PICU RN

Overview

• Per diem RN role in Portland, Oregon
• Night shift: 1x12 hours, 19:00–7:30
• 13-week contract
• Unit cares for critically ill neonatal, pediatric, and young adult patients
• The unit treats medical, surgical, cardiac, oncologic, and trauma diagnoses
• Advanced modalities used include CRRT and ECMO

Required Qualifications

• 2 years of experience
• BLS AHA
• PALS AHA
• Epic familiarity is needed
• Must confirm whether you have ever been an employee of OHSU or have any reason to believe you may be listed in OHSU’s system
• Must be able to float to less or like units when needed, including 10N Intermediate Care Unit, 10S Hem/Onc Unit (not BMT), 9S Surgical Acute Care, and 9N Medical Acute Care
• Must practice only within scope
• Two manager or supervisor references from an employer within the last 12 months are required
• Must complete up to 10 hours of OHSU and specialty-specific modules before clearance to work

Preferred

• Experience with CVICU
• Experience with post-op hearts
• CCRN
• NRP
• Clinical experience in higher-acuity mixed medical/cardiac PICUs

Unit Details

• Bedside procedures include central line placement, arterial line placement, lumbar puncture, intubations/extubations, CRRT initiation/discontinuation, ECMO cannulations/decannulations, chest exploration, and other emergent operative procedures when transport to the OR is not possible
• Special equipment includes Hamilton G5 Ventilators, DirectLink ICP Monitors, Artic Sun Targeted Temperature Management, and Baxer Prismaflex Machines

Compliance Notes

• Former OHSU employees must be away from any OHSU facility for at least 6 months before returning
• COVID-19 vaccination is strongly recommended; if declined, the facility’s declination process and masking requirements apply
• Candidate must be fully available for compliance needs up to the start date
• Candidate is expected to pick up shifts immediately after orientation completion
