Lab Assistant/Phlebotomist

Travel/Contract

Schedule

  • Day shift
  • Monday–Friday
  • 8:30 AM–5:00 PM
  • 40 hours per week

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Washington
  • Med Surg experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience preferred
  • 1 year of experience may be considered

Responsibilities

  • Follows laboratory protocols, policies, and safety procedures
  • Answers technical questions about laboratory procedures and policies
  • Troubleshoots issues such as pending orders, specimen draws, lost specimens, add-on tests, and specimen scanning
  • Locates patient results and generates reports/faxes as assigned
  • Uses computer systems such as LIS and HIS
  • Maintains a clean, organized work area
  • Cleans and prepares work areas
  • Stocks supplies and reagents
  • Takes inventory and orders supplies when needed
  • Handles incoming supplies
  • Maintains assigned equipment
  • Disposes of specimens and hazardous waste according to laboratory protocols

Compliance / Pre-Start Items

  • Background check required
  • Education verification required
  • Transcript or diploma required if education cannot be verified or degree is not shown on verification
  • Physical exam required for Aya
  • Fit testing is not required for laboratory positions
  • Tdap required within 10 years of start
  • Negative TB or chest X-ray required
  • Flu vaccination, medical exemption, or declination required during flu season
  • COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes
