Registered Nurse (MS/Tele) - York, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Per Diem
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: 12-hour shifts, 1900-0730
Patient Ratio: 1:6 (may vary, max 1:7)
Age Group: Adults, Geriatrics
Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
Medication System: Pyxis
Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs, closed-toe shoes (no Crocs)
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in MS/Telemetry, Telemetry Oncology, or ER Holding
- Trauma Level II experience
- Epic system experience required
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIH Stroke Certification
- 1st time travelers accepted
- 2 clinical references required, including at least 1 leadership reference from assignments within the last year
- Separation period of 6 months between assignments
Preferred Experience
- Experience in Teaching Hospitals and Community Hospitals
- LTAC experience
- Trauma Level I experience
Clinical Skills Required
- Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Telemetry remote monitoring
- Use of Rapid Response Teams
- Pacemakers (temporary and permanent)
- Post cardiac angiogram, MI, cardiac cath, and cardiac surgery care
- TR Band management
- Feeding tube care and management
- Continuous bladder irrigation
- Pre/post hemodialysis management
- Renal failure care
- Blood product administration
- Central line, peripheral line, and PICC line care/management
- Epidural analgesia
- Heparin protocols
- Management of cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration)
- PCA management
- Care for CVA, lumbar drains, pre/post neurosurgery, seizure disorders, spinal cord injury, substance withdrawal, traumatic brain injury
- Chemotherapy administration
- Ortho trauma care including peripheral nerve block catheters, total joint replacements, traction
- Surgical drains and chest tubes (Emerson/Pleur-evac)
- External CPAP/BIPAP and High Flow Nasal Cannula (HFNC)
- Interpretation of ABGs
- Oxygen delivery methods including nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, portable oxygen tanks
- Non-invasive airway management and tracheostomy care
- Isolation precautions
- Wound care and wound vac management
Orientation
- 1 day of orientation scheduled based on availability
Certifications & Competencies
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for MS/Tele)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (pass/fail, must be updated for every new assignment)
- Other certifications as applicable (e.g., TNCC, PALS, NRP)
Background & Compliance Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- PA FBI fingerprinting required within 1 year of start; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search required within 5 years of start; candidate may start with results pending but must be finalized within 45 days
- Pennsylvania State Police PATCH search required within 1 year of start; must be finalized prior to start (cannot start with results pending)
- Education verification of highest level completed
- Negative 9-panel drug test within 1 year (Aya requirement only)
- Physical exam within 90 days of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NPT
- Immunizations and titers required:
- TDAP within 10 years
- Negative TB test (QGold or TSpot) within 90 days (PPD not accepted)
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or full vaccine series (3 doses) plus declination form if applicable
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters as needed
- Seasonal flu vaccine or valid medical/religious exemption required during flu season
- COVID-19 vaccine or valid exemption/declination accepted
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years of start
- Most recent resume/application required
- Annual skills checklist
- Facility-specific documents and agreements must be reviewed and signed (e.g., Code of Conduct, Confidentiality Agreement, Commitment to Health & Wellness)
- Agency badge and professional photo required for badge issuance
- Learning Management System (LMS) modules must be completed by due dates prior to start
- New hire orientation must be completed by the end of the first day of assignment
Prior Travel Experience
- Not required; 1st time travelers are accepted
