Job Opportunity: OR Tech - Surgical Services

Location: Springfield, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Surgical Services (OR Tech)
  • Shift: 4x10 hour days (08:45 AM - 07:15 PM)
  • Average Daily Census: 50-60 cases/day
  • Weekend Requirement: Yes, approximately once a month (16 hours total)
  • On-Call: Yes, as needed for the department
  • Floating: Required within scope of practice to meet facility needs
  • Locals Accepted: No, must live more than 50 miles from the facility
  • First-Timers: Not accepted (prior experience required)
  • Pending License: Not applicable (no license required for this role)
  • Guaranteed Hours: Client may call off up to 36 hours per 13-week assignment without pay

Experience & Certification Requirements

  • Years of Experience Required: Minimum 3 years in Surgical Services
  • Prior Travel Experience: Not explicitly required
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support) required
    • CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) preferred
  • Teaching Hospital Experience: Preferred
  • Trauma Level I Experience: Required

Additional Information

  • Scrub Color: Provided
  • Charting System: Cerner
  • Parking: Permit required, no cost
  • Schedule Flexibility: Block schedule requests can be discussed with manager
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: All time off must be approved by manager
  • Fingerprinting: Must be completed in Illinois 3 business days prior to start for compliance
  • Background Checks: Required within 30 days of start, covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start, must confirm good physical and mental health
  • Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen required within 30 days of start
  • Immunizations & Health Requirements:
    • TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer or declination
    • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer or declination
    • Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required annually
  • References: Two professional references required
  • Competency Exam: Required for all clinical candidates

This position is ideal for experienced OR Techs with a strong background in a variety of surgical specialties, trauma experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced Level I trauma teaching hospital environment.
