Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT or CRT) - Travel/Contract

Location: Charleston, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

  • 3x12 hour shifts (either days 7am-7pm or nights 7pm-7am)
  • Weekdays with some weekends
  • Float to other units and sister facilities as needed
• Start Date: Orientations every other Monday
• Guaranteed Hours: 72-80 hours per pay period
• Weekend Requirement: Yes
• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
• Local Radius Rule: 75-100 miles considered for locals
• Pending State License Accepted: Yes
• Return to Work Restrictions: Must submit requests two weeks prior to next schedule and get manager approval

Experience & Certifications

• Required Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty
• Prior Travel Experience: Not required
• First-timers Accepted: Yes
• Required Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA only
• Preferred Certifications:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) for Pediatrics (preferred but not mandatory)
  • NALS (Neonatal Advanced Life Support) for Pediatrics (preferred)
• Additional Notes on Certifications:

  • Candidates cannot start with certifications pending or complete onsite
  • Some units may have specific certification requirements; check unit details if applicable

Required Documents & Compliance

• Valid Driver’s License
• Social Security Card (legible)
• Background Check: 7-year criminal history within 30 days of start
• National Sex Offender Registry check within 30 days
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks updated annually
• Physical Exam within 1 year, signed by appropriate medical provider, confirming good health and no limitations
• Drug Screen within 30 days of start, including a comprehensive panel (no placeholders or pending results allowed)
• Annual Fit Mask Testing (N95) or accommodation with PAPR if needed
• Immunizations and Titers:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (no declinations accepted; medical/religious exemptions require approval)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 3 months
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titers required
  • Hepatitis B vaccination or titer documentation
  • Varicella vaccination or positive titers
  • Seasonal Flu Vaccination or approved exemption required (strict deadline compliance)
  • COVID-19 vaccination not mandatory; proof or declination accepted

Additional Requirements

• Annual Skills Checklist for specialty required
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exams not required for Respiratory but required for Nursing
• Orientation: 2 days (Thursday and Friday), includes Cerner Infusion Management training
• Pass/Fail Testing: Not applicable for Respiratory Therapist
• Dress Code Policy, Time and Attendance, Medical Release, and other facility-specific documents must be reviewed, signed, and returned as required
• References: One reference required from a manager, supervisor, or charge nurse within the last year

Notes

• Floating to sister facilities is required
• Block scheduling is open to accommodation but not guaranteed
• Candidates with latex allergy should notify manager to avoid exposure
• Candidates must complete all required in-service training modules prior to start (approx. 4 hours)
• Failure to complete fit testing or required documentation prior to first shift may result in removal from schedule
