Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN L&D)

Location: Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

• Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (RN L&D)
• Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Unit: 10-bed unit (5 Labor & Delivery rooms, 5 Postpartum rooms)
• Weekend Requirement: Yes, minimum 5 weekend shifts per 6-week schedule
• On-call: No
• Floating: Yes, must float within scope to like units as needed
• Charting System: Epic

Experience & Requirements

• Years of Experience Required: Minimum 2 years, including experience as a circulator for Cesarean Sections (C/S)
• First-time Travelers: Accepted
• Certifications Required:

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • AWHONN Intermediate Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM)
  • Colorado or Compact RN License
• Special Requirements:

  • Circulator experience required
  • Experience in clinical leadership and mentoring preferred

Time Off / Scheduling Notes

• Maximum of 10 Return to Office (RTO) days approved
• RTO not allowed during specific blackout periods in 2026 (mid-March, early May, late May, late June to early July)
• Flexibility may be considered for harder-to-fill positions

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check including SSN trace, Colorado state checks, education verification, sex offender search, and sanctions list
• Licensure Verification:

  • State license verification within 60 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required
• Health Documents:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask test within 12 months and annually (specific mask types required)
  • Immunizations and titers: TDAP, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Flu seasonal vaccination (with no declinations accepted during flu season)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start and annually
  • COVID vaccination proof or signed declination
  • Color Blindness: Ishihara exam required prior to start (online testing not accepted)
• Competency Exams:

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam annually
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam annually
  • Core Part I, II, III exams annually
  • OSHA mandatory training annually
• References & Employment History:

  • Two references from the last two years, including one from the past year (charge nurse, manager, or supervisor)
  • Employment history verification for the last 3 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days

Additional Notes

• Candidates must be pre-closed on housing prior to submission
• Floating between like units within scope is required to meet facility needs
• Clinical leadership and mentoring experience preferred but not mandatory
