Job Opportunity: Medical Surgical Float - Registered Nurse

Job Description

• Float position within the Med/Surg service line
• Patient ratios: 1:5-7
• Work every other weekend
• Required to work 50% of holidays during the contract
• Adult overflow unit (10 beds) serving multiple admitting physician teams including Neurology, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Cardiology, Orthopedics, and Oncology
• Patient diagnoses include diabetes, CHF, COPD, renal disease, orthopedic fractures, neurological deficits
• Care for adult medical surgical patients aged 16 and older to assist with hospital throughput
• General floor care duties including IV therapy, labs, nasogastric tubes, wound care, assisting physicians with bedside procedures and conscious sedation
• Active role requiring ambulation, reaching, and moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to patients with contagious illnesses
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year with rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather

Requirements

• Specialty: Registered Nurse (Medical Surgical)
• Experience: Minimum 1 year of experience in specialty required (highest requirement found)
• Prior Travel Experience: Required (must have completed at least 1 prior travel contract)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC Provider card required
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit
  • Other certifications may be required depending on specialty area (e.g., CHEMO for Oncology, TNCC for ER RNs starting 11/5/2024)
• Licensure:

  • Valid state RN license with primary source verification within 60 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
• Background Checks:

  • 7-year background check within 60 days of start
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG exclusions checks within 60 days of start
  • International background checks if candidate has traveled outside the USA in last 7 years
  • State-specific searches (Missouri FCSR or Caregiver background screening) required within 60 days
• Health Requirements:

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 1 year, updated annually
  • Immunizations/vaccinations including Tdap (within 10 years), MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B (series or titer), Flu seasonal vaccination or approved exemption
  • Drug screening (7 panel) within 60 days of start
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start (not required for some tech roles)
• Other:

  • Ability to work full shifts, take call, work assigned weekends, and at least 50% of holidays during contract
  • Must be able to work at assigned location for full contract term

• Active role requiring physical activity including ambulating and lifting/moving objects over 20 lbs
• Exposure to contagious illnesses
• Rotating shifts, holiday work, and work during inclement weather required
