Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Escondido, California
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 3 months)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts


Position Summary

  • Role: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
  • Float assignments: Labor RNs may float to Postpartum; RNs may float to Poway Campus
  • Charting system: Cerner EMR

Experience & Education Requirements

  • Minimum 2+ years of directly related RN experience in Labor and Delivery, OB Circulating, and OB PACU
  • BSN required

Certifications Required

  • Current California RN license
  • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Heart Monitoring Certification (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Prior Travel Experience

  • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • I9 verification
  • Valid Driver’s License or State ID with address
  • Background checks including 7-year criminal history, national criminal, sex offender, FACIS Level 3, EPLS/GSA/SAM, and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification
  • Badge photo with white background (no selfies)
  • Online orientation completion prior to start
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, PA, or NP confirming good health and free of communicable diseases
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start (annual renewal required for direct hires)
  • Negative 9-panel drug test within 30 days prior to start
  • Flu vaccination or declination form required prior to start and annually thereafter
  • TB screening (2-step PPD, Q-Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year and updated annually
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for: Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella
  • COVID vaccination preferred; declination accepted with facility-specific form
  • References: 2 required within 3 years from manager, supervisor, or charge RN
  • Employment application and annual skills checklist required

Additional Notes

  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) certification required only for Psych/Behavioral Health and ER positions (not specified for this role)
  • Medication and unit specialty competency exams with 80% pass rate required within 12 months of start
  • Pass/fail arrhythmia exam may be required depending on unit
  • No local candidates accepted for this position
