Job Opportunity: ICU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Job Summary

• Deliver coordinated nursing care for assigned patients following established standards and nursing processes.
• Supervise and direct activities of assigned nursing staff.
• Coordinate care with other disciplines using critical thinking, professional judgment, and supervisory discretion.

Required Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree (BSN) preferred.

Experience

• Acute care facility experience preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years high acuity ICU experience preferred (use 2 years as required).

Licenses & Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in California (required).
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
• National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required).

Prior Travel Experience

Essential Functions

• Collect and analyze patient health data to determine diagnoses and care issues.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans.
• Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams to provide safe, humane, and effective care.
• Provide education to patients, families, and team members.
• Participate in discharge planning to ensure continuity of care.
• Delegate and coordinate duties among healthcare team members.

Additional Requirements & Competencies

• Current picture identification (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks covering the last 7 years, including social security trace, county/state searches, federal court jurisdictions, and other regulatory checks.
• Annual competency exams including medication/pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG, telemetry (if applicable), and conscious sedation.
• Color blindness testing required for all candidates.
• Physical exam within 90 days of start.
• Drug testing within 30 days before start.
• Immunizations and/or titers required:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years or positive titer; declinations accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (updated annually)
  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccination series, or signed declination)
• Flu vaccine or facility-specific exemption required during flu season (Oct 31 - Apr 30).
• COVID-19 vaccine exemption forms available for religious or medical reasons.
• Skills checklist specific to the unit required.
• Two clinical references verified within one year of start.
• Complete employment application/resume with 7-year work history including gaps.

Notes

• Photo for badge must be passport style, high resolution, no filters or selfies.
• Fit mask (N95) testing preferred; onsite fit testing may be available.
• Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training may be required depending on unit.
• Some certifications and trainings must be updated annually regardless of expiration date.
