Job Summary
Join a high-performing multidisciplinary team providing exceptional care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing complex cardiovascular procedures in a nationally recognized Cardiac Catheterization Lab. This role involves working in a patient- and family-centered environment using advanced technology and minimally invasive techniques for structural heart interventions, advanced interventional procedures, and heart transplant services.
Work Schedule
- Day/Evening shifts
- 8, 10, or 12-hour shifts
- Monday through Friday
- On-call with 30-minute response time on weeknights and weekends
- Flexibility required; may float to multiple units or locations depending on staffing needs
Required Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3+ years of inpatient ICU-level nursing experience or prior cardiac cath lab nursing experience (preferred)
- Must have completed 2 years of acute care experience within the last 3 years
- ICU experience with adult populations
- Recent Cardiovascular Laboratory and/or Electrophysiology Laboratory nursing experience
- Moderate sedation experience required
- Basic Arrhythmia experience required; must pass Telemetry test prior to start
- Epic electronic health record experience required (preferably within last 12 months)
- Ability to self-direct and organize varied workload
- Experience delivering patient care across adolescent through geriatric populations
- Prior travel experience not explicitly required
Licensure & Certifications
- Wisconsin nursing license or compact license from permanent address state
- BLS & ACLS certification through American Heart Association only
- Telemetry test pass required before starting
- Additional certifications may be required depending on unit (e.g., PALS, NRP)
Job Responsibilities
- Independently function as part of the Heart & Vascular Care Procedure Center team
- Patient assessment, medication administration, moderate sedation, hemodynamic monitoring
- Circulating and scrubbing during Electrophysiology (EP) and other invasive procedures
- Pre- and post-procedure patient assessment and teaching
- Support smooth and efficient patient flow for EP Lab procedures
- Participate in shared governance and quality improvement initiatives
- Work alongside physicians, fellows, and researchers in an academic medical center
Facility Requirements
- Candidate’s permanent address must be within 50 miles of the primary work site
- Floating to other units or locations may be required based on staffing needs
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Background checks including SSN trace, nationwide, sex offender, and state-specific caregiver screening
- Education verification as applicable
- Drug screening per standard requirements
- Immunizations and health documents including:
- TB testing and questionnaire
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or exemption
- Varicella vaccination or exemption
- Hepatitis B vaccination or declination form
- Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (annual requirement)
- Other vaccines as required by department (e.g., Meningococcal for Microbiology)
- Telemetry competency exams (Adult and/or Pediatric) with remediation process if needed
- Medication/pharmacology competency exams as applicable
- Signed orientation safety manual acknowledgment
- References: 2 clinical references within last 3 years (Aya standard)
