Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Cardiac Telemetry (MS/Tele RN, 3E CPU)

Location: Bel Air, Maryland
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks (approximately 13 weeks as specified)
Shift: Nights, 3x12 hour shifts (19:00 - 07:30), every other week (EOW)
Start Date: 02/23/2026


Job Description

  • Unit: Combined Medical-Surgical/Telemetry (3E CPU)
  • Patient Population: Adult and Geriatrics
  • Average Daily Census: 30 patients
  • Beds: 22 rooms / 30 beds
  • Patient Diagnoses: Variety including CHF, ECOPD, NSTEMI, new onset Atrial Fibrillation, arrhythmias, sepsis, renal failure/AKI, and other complex conditions
  • Unit requires handling higher acuity patients and PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of Registered Nurse experience required
  • First-time travelers accepted if they have strong CPU and PCU experience and can manage higher acuity patients
  • Prior travel experience is NOT required

Licenses and Certifications Required

  • Maryland RN State License
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (must be current and updated annually)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) preferred but not mandatory

Competencies and Exams

  • MS/Tele competency exam required for this unit
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Age-specific competency exam (score 80% or higher)
  • Color Blind Testing required

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Negative 9 or 10 panel drug screen within 30-45 days prior to start (instant tests NOT accepted)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and titers required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (per unit requirements)
    • Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer or declination accepted, series not accepted)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines/boosters)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray per facility protocol, updated annually
  • Flu vaccine or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct-Mar)
  • COVID vaccine not required for this location but documentation or declination collected for tracking

Background and Documentation

  • 7-year criminal background check within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • Education verification for highest level of education
  • Employment history verification for previous 5 years (attestation accepted if necessary)
  • Two professional references required (one must be a supervisor/manager or charge RN)
  • Maryland State Exclusions List check within 30 days of start
  • Various facility-specific documents and agreements must be signed prior to start, including confidentiality and dress code policies

Additional Notes

  • Candidates will complete CPI training during orientation if not already certified
  • Facility-specific orientation and training including Epic Portfolio training test out option
  • Candidates must comply with facility appearance and hygiene policies
  • Security ID application and badge photo required prior to start

This position is ideal for RNs with telemetry and progressive care experience looking for a travel contract in Maryland with night shifts and a higher acuity patient population. Prior travel experience is not required, making it suitable for first-time travel nurses with the appropriate clinical background.
