Specialty: Surgical Services (CVOR Tech)

Types of Cases Required:
- Cardiac Surgery: CABG (on/off pump), AVR, MVRR, TVRR, Aortic aneurysm/dissection, total artificial heart, heart transplant, LVAD implantation, minimally invasive valve replacement, trans-catheter mitral/aortic/tricuspid valve replacement
- Vascular Surgery: Endovascular and open vascular procedures including AAA, thoracic and thoracoabdominal aneurysm (including fenestrated grafts), endarterectomy, bypass for peripheral artery disease, amputation, ECMO decannulation and repositioning
Preferred Cases: General, endo/laparoscopic, vascular, thoracic, bariatrics, transplant
CVOR Case Experience Required:
- Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm Repair
- Atrial Septal Defect Repair
- Carotid Endarterectomy
- Coronary Artery Bypass Graft
- Endovascular Aneurysm Repair
- Endovascular Aortic Repair (EVAR)
- Femoral Popliteal Bypass Graft
- Mitral Valve Replacement
- Pericardial Window
- Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement (TAVR)
- Thoracic Endovascular Aortic Repair (TEVAR)
- Ventricular Assist Device (VAD)
- ECMO
Operating Rooms: 6 total (4 ORs, 1 Hybrid, 1 PV)
Requirements
- Years of Experience: Minimum 1 year in specialty (highest requirement)
- Prior Travel Experience: Not required
- First-timers Accepted: Yes
- Weekend Requirement: Up to 2 weekends per month, holiday call as needed
- On-call Requirement: Up to 2 weekends per month, up to 2 weekdays per week, holiday call as needed
- National Certification Required: NBSTSA or NCCT
- BLS Certification: Required (AHA or ARC, RQI acceptable; certificate of completion not accepted)
- Other Certifications: ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, EFM, NIH Stroke Certification, CWCN (if applicable) – as required by unit/job description
- State License: Minnesota state license required; pending state license not accepted
- Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
- Locals Accepted: No (must be outside 100-mile radius)
- Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours per week
- Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 5 days

Background and Compliance
- Criminal background check required within 1 year of start date (7-year standard MN statewide search)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 1 year of start
- Transcript/Diploma verification as applicable
- Fingerprinting: Minnesota DHS Net Study Questionnaire and fingerprinting required prior to start; candidates cannot start with fingerprints pending unless a “more time needed” letter is provided
- Physical exam within 12 months prior to start required
- Immunizations and Health Requirements:
- Adult Tdap (no declinations accepted without exemption approval)
- Negative TB test or chest x-ray within 12 months (TB results must be on file no later than 3 days after start)
- Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella: 2 vaccines or positive titer required (no exemptions accepted for patient-facing roles)
- Hepatitis B: Positive IGG titer, proof of series, or signed declination required
- Varicella: Positive IGG titer or 2 vaccines required (no exemptions accepted)
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination: Required for 2025-2026 season (declinations accepted)
- Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen within 1 year of start (not required for client clearance)
- OSHA Respiratory Safety Clearance required prior to start for fit testing
Training and Documentation
- Completion of facility-specific preorientation modules/online eLearning required within 72 hours of receiving login (3-9 hours depending on specialty)
- Photo for badge: Passport-style headshot required within 48 hours of signing contract
- Annual skills checklist and medication/pharmacology competency exams required
- State license primary source verification required
Additional Notes
- This is a travel/contract position with a 13-week contract length
- No floating or block scheduling accommodations
- Parking available at a flat rate of $0.55/hour
This position is ideal for CVOR Techs with at least 1 year of experience in cardiac and vascular surgical cases, who hold national certification and a Minnesota state license, and are comfortable with weekend and on-call responsibilities. First-time travelers are welcome to apply.
