Job Description

• Work on a 34-bed Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit (PCU)
• Patient ratio approximately 1:5 (may fluctuate with census)
• Utilize Meditech EMR system
• Float within scope of practice as needed
• Work every other weekend
• Blocked scheduling cannot be accommodated
• Schedule typically follows a 36/48 hour rotation over two weeks
• Orientation offered bi-weekly
• Must reside within 75 miles of the facility

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kentucky
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, with at least 1 year within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• American Heart Association (AHA) Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Certifications & Competencies

• BLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• ACLS (AHA Instructor/Provider/RQI)
• NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RN specialties except OR and Psych)
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
• Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for all units except Psych, OR, Rehab, and true Med Surg)
• Core Competency Exams (Parts I, II, III)
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Every other weekend required
• Float within scope of practice
• No blocked scheduling
• 1:5 patient ratios, may fluctuate

Health & Background Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions
• Fit mask testing completed onsite (PAPRs not accommodated; exemptions reviewed onsite)
• Required immunizations and/or proof of immunity:

  • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (valid within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year; T-Spot/PPD not accepted)
  • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) proof of vaccination or positive titer
  • Varicella proof of vaccination or positive titer
  • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination (declination must be within 1 year)
• Drug testing within 30 days of start using specified panel (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start

Documentation & Verification

• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor or higher)
• Complete application/resume with education and work history
• 7-year work history verification through a third-party vendor (attestation letters acceptable if verification attempts fail)
• Background checks including national criminal search, sex offender registry, fugitive database, county searches for last 7 years, and others as required
• State-specific registry verifications as applicable (e.g., Kentucky Vulnerable Adult Maltreatment Registry)
