Job Description

• Position: Labor & Delivery / Postpartum / Nursery Registered Nurse
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 3 patients
• Required Experience: Minimum 2 years in specialty
• First-time travelers accepted
• Weekend shifts required
• Floating: Yes, within scope to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling: No blocks greater than 3 or 4 shifts
• Local travelers within 45-mile radius not accepted
• Deliveries: Must be able to deliver infants >34 weeks gestation; transfer prior to delivery if <34 weeks but able to stabilize and transfer infant
• Facility Type: Acute Care Hospital, Level 3 Trauma
• Total Staffed Beds: 149
• Charting System: Meditech
• Scrub Color: Any color allowed; OR/L&D/Cath Lab scrubs provided
• Parking: Free

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Kansas
• Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
• Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery nursing experience, including experience within the last year
• Certifications:

  • BLS issued by American Heart Association
  • ACLS
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
  • AWHONN Intermediate or AWHONN Advanced Fetal Monitoring (EFM)

Special Requirements

• Must be able to care for deliveries >34 weeks gestation
• Stabilize and transfer infants if delivery occurs before 34 weeks

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

• Proof of identity and eligibility to work (I9, government-issued photo ID, Social Security documentation)
• Background checks including 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and education verification
• Drug screening: Negative 13-panel drug test within 30 days of start (specific substances tested)
• Health documents:

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Current Tdap vaccine (within 10 years)
  • Negative TB test (Quantiferon Gold preferred) or chest X-ray if positive
  • Required vaccinations or documented immunity for MMR, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Influenza, and others
• Required certifications verification (ACLS, BLS, NRP, AWHONN EFM)
• Pass/fail competency testing including medication and EKG
• Orientation and safety manual acknowledgement
• References: 2 professional references within 2 years required for travel nurses
• Performance evaluations if previously employed with the facility

Additional Notes

• No block scheduling greater than 3-4 shifts
• Floating within scope expected
• Orientation dress code: business casual preferred; scrubs allowed if required for position
• Lactation resources available upon request
