Job Opportunity: Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)

Location: Indianapolis, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Shift requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday/Sunday) plus two rotating weekdays.
  • Floating between multiple hospital campuses may be required.
  • First-time travelers are accepted.

Required Qualifications

  • License: Indiana Respiratory Therapist license (RRT) required.
  • Certifications:
    • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from NBRC
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support)
  • Experience:
    • Minimum 2 years total experience with at least 18 months recent ICU experience.
    • Education must be accredited through CoARC and regionally accredited through CHEA.
  • Additional Requirements:
    • Completion of mandatory facility-specific RRT training modules prior to orientation.
    • Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required).
    • Background checks including criminal, education verification, and federal exclusions.
    • Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date.
    • Fit mask test within 12 months of start date (specific respirator models required).
    • Immunizations and health screenings including TB test, MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella), Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap, flu vaccination (or approved exemption), and drug screening.
    • Color blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with a minimum score of 100%.
    • References: Minimum of 2 from recent employment verified within 2 years.
    • Skills checklist and competency exams as required by the facility.

Important Notes

  • Indiana RN license holders are generally not allowed to work at this facility after 11/30/2024, except for perioperative, ambulatory, and allied RN travelers.
  • On-site fit testing is limited and must be approved if required.
  • Flu vaccination is mandatory during flu season; declinations are not accepted except for approved medical or religious exemptions.
  • Candidates must complete 22 mandatory RRT training modules before orientation; failure to complete will result in inability to start.
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam required (not required for Techs or RRTs).
  • Floating between multiple campuses is expected.
