Location: New Orleans, Louisiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Trauma Level I & II required
  • EPIC experience required
  • Patient ratio: 1:2
  • Float required within ICU
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend
  • No first-time travelers accepted (prior travel experience required)
  • Scrubs provided

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)

Preferred Certifications

  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Louisiana
  • Minimum of 1 year ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
  • Completion of at least one travel nursing assignment
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
  • ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • NIHSS certification

Work Schedule & Environment

  • Float within ICU units required
  • Weekend coverage every other weekend

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Background check within 6 months covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID matching candidate documentation
  • I9 verification required
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (10-panel or expanded panel depending on hire date)
  • Physical exam (within 12 months)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (per current guidelines)
    • TB questionnaire (updated annually)
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or titer proof
    • Hepatitis B series, titer, or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or titer proof
    • Seasonal flu vaccination/documentation (required Oct 1 – Mar 31) with exemptions accepted
  • Medication, pharmacology, dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams required annually with minimum 80% score
  • Core competencies (Parts I, II, III) required annually
  • NURSYS license verification within 30 days of start

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must have 7 years of work history documented with no gaps over 30 days
  • Must be able to meet facility appearance policy
  • CPI Blue Card accepted; may be completed onsite if not already certified (must be completed within 30 days of start)

This position is ideal for experienced ICU Registered Nurses with prior travel contract experience who are comfortable working in a high-acuity trauma environment and meeting comprehensive compliance requirements.
