Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Pediatric ICU
Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Respiratory Therapist with experience in pediatric and/or neonatal ICU settings. The role involves working nights (3 shifts of 12 hours) primarily in NICU, PICU, and CICU units. Respiratory ICU experience is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage respiratory therapies including:
- Natural and artificial airway management
- Non-invasive and invasive ventilator management (Servo I ventilators required)
- Cardiopulmonary assessment and bronchial hygiene therapies
- Delivery of respiratory medications and medical gas therapy
- Aerosol and humidity management
- Respiratory education (asthma, trach, pulmonary disease)
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Float within scope to meet facility needs (no floating to sister facilities)
Required Qualifications
- Valid Respiratory Therapist license in Nebraska
- Minimum 2 years of Respiratory Therapist experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Pediatric patients
- Experience working with Neonate patients
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification
Facility & Work Environment
- Level 2 Trauma center
- 145 staffed beds
- Charting system: Epic
- Shift: Nights (3x12 hour shifts)
- Scrub color: Any
Compliance & Documentation Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history and federal/state screenings
- Education verification (transcript or diploma acceptable)
- National certification verifications
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam
- Color blindness testing
- Physical exam within 12 months by MD, DO, PA, NP, or APRN
- Fit mask test within 12 months prior to start
- Immunizations and health screenings including:
- Tdap
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or titers
- Hepatitis B vaccination or positive titer (no declinations allowed)
- Varicella vaccination or positive titer
- Seasonal flu vaccine or approved exemption (required annually)
- Drug screening (10-panel including THC) within 12 months prior to start
- References: 2 professional references within 2 years
- Skills checklist and competency exams updated annually
- State-specific registry checks as required
Additional Notes
- Floating within the facility is expected to meet patient care needs.
- Return to office (RTO) restrictions prefer 5 days or less; 6-10 days require contract extension.
- First-time travel therapists are welcome to apply.
