Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical

Location: Burlington, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Every other weekend required (Saturday and Sunday)
  • No on-call duties
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Charge RN shifts required as needed
  • Unit size: 29 beds
  • Patient population includes adults through geriatrics with orthopedic and medical-surgical needs
  • Telemetry monitoring available
  • Physical therapy gym on unit for patient rehab
  • High volume of patients with total joint replacements, fracture repairs, and kyphoplasties
  • Moderate volume of other surgical, inpatient, and 24-hour observation medical patients

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of nursing experience, including Med Surg / Telemetry experience within the last year
  • One completed travel nursing assignment
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience in Charge RN roles
  • Completion and acknowledgement of facility Orientation Safety Manual
  • Acknowledgement and successful completion of Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication)

Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA or ARC approved
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) may be required depending on unit
  • Pass/Fail Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (must score 82% or higher)
  • Other certifications may be required based on unit assignment (confirm with recruiter)

Scheduling & Work Environment

  • Night shifts, 7 PM to 7:30 AM, 3 shifts per week
  • Every other weekend required
  • No call responsibilities
  • Floating to other units as needed
  • Charge RN duties as assigned

  • Candidates must be flexible with scheduling and adhere to a strict zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Compliance deadlines are strict; all required documentation must be completed prior to start date
  • Candidates must complete a health history form and provide documentation for any work restrictions
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, hats, masks, or altered backgrounds)
  • Candidates will receive onboarding instructions including Workday login and multi-factor authentication setup prior to start

This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-volume medical-surgical unit with diverse patient populations and a supportive team environment. Prior travel nursing experience and charge nurse skills are essential for success in this role.
