Position Details

• Specialty: Surgical Services (Operating Room Certified Surgical Technician)
• Shift: 4x10 hour shifts (6:45 AM to 5:15 PM)
• Operating Rooms: 9 ORs
• On-Call: Yes

  • 4 weekdays on-call and 1.5 weekends on-call every 4 weeks
  • Weekend on-call includes at least one full weekend and one half weekend every 4 weeks
• Floating: Yes, between service lines (not to sister facilities)
• Types of Cases: General Surgery, Robotics, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Gynecology, Eyes, Urology, ENT

Required Qualifications

• Certified Surgical Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of experience
• Surgical Technologist experience within the last year
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
• Certification as CST or NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting)
• Radiation Badge required and must be provided by the agency prior to start

• Acute Care Hospital setting
• 286 staffed beds
• Scrubs provided
• Charting system: Epic
• Free parking available
• Local radius rule: 60 miles
• Locals may be accepted on a case-by-case basis

Additional Requirements & Information

• Background Checks:

  • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
  • Includes SSN trace, state and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and federal exclusions lists
• Education Verification: Required (diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed)
• Licensure:

  • Must have an active, unencumbered South Carolina license or compact license for the discipline
  • Primary source verification required
  • NURSYS verification required for RNs/LPNs (if applicable)
• Health & Immunizations:

  • Physical exam updated annually, attesting ability to meet physical demands
  • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days of start or chest x-ray if prior positive
  • Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tdap (within 10 years or declination form)
  • Flu vaccine required during flu season or medical/religious exemption (no declinations accepted)
  • COVID-19 vaccines highly preferred; declination form required if not vaccinated
  • Drug screening: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
• Competency Exams: Required as applicable, including medication/pharmacology and OR competency exams
• Photo for Badge: Clear, passport-style photo with solid light background required before start
• Orientation: Completion of facility-specific orientation modules and first day instructions mandatory before starting
• Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams during June-November; consider before accepting assignment

• Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations required
• Verification of last 3 clinical employers required (or all if fewer than 3)

Scheduling & Hours

• Facility may call off 1 shift every 2 weeks; called off hours can be combined to equal 1 shift
• Open to block scheduling with manager approval, depending on unit needs

Notes

• Candidates cannot start without their radiation badge; badges may take 5-7 days to arrive after ordering
• Must complete all required documentation and certifications prior to start
• Floating between service lines is required; no floating to sister facilities
