Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Columbia, South Carolina
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Details

Specialty: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse
Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:45 PM – 7:15 AM)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
On-Call Requirement: Yes, 2 twelve-hour shifts within a 6-week period
Floating: Not required to float between units or facilities
Guaranteed Hours: Facility may call off 1 shift per 2 weeks

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in South Carolina
Minimum 2 years of labor and delivery nursing experience, with experience within the last year
ACLS issued by American Heart Association
AWHONN Beginner
AWHONN Intermediate
BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
FHM (Fetal Heart Monitoring)
NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Experience with Epic electronic health record system

First-Time Travelers: Accepted
Local Candidates: Considered on a case-by-case basis
Background Checks:
- Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
- Includes SSN trace, statewide and national criminal checks, sex offender registry, and employment/education verification
Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts may be used as placeholders if needed
References: Proof of 2 clinical references required, including at least one from the same unit
Employment History: Complete application/resume with no gaps; verification of last 3 clinical employers required
Competency Exams: Medication/pharmacology competency and general competency exams required as applicable

Health and Safety Requirements

Physical Exam: Must be current within 90 days of start, confirming ability to work without restrictions
Immunizations and Titers:
- Tdap vaccine within 10 years or declination form
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required
- Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
TB Testing: Negative T-spot or Q-Gold within 90 days of start; if positive, chest x-ray and annual questionnaire required
Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start; no instant tests accepted
Respirator Clearance: Annual medical clearance required via RespSafety virtual questionnaire
COVID-19: Vaccination not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations; documentation deadline December 5th

Orientation and Facility Specifics

Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on unit
Photo for Badge: Passport-style color photo with solid light background required
Parking: Free with pass provided at start
Scrubs: Navy surgical scrubs provided

Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams from June through November; peak months August and September
