ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Valdosta, Georgia
Contract Length: 8 weeks

Job Summary

• Work in Medical and Surgical ICU (MSICU) caring for adult, pediatric, and geriatric patients.
• Patient diagnoses include post-code, post-stroke, TPA administration, respiratory failure, and dialysis patients. Cardiac and occasional pediatric patients excluded.
• Float required between CPU, PCU, MS/Telemetry units (max 4 patients on float).
• Schedule includes night shifts (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7 PM to 7 AM) with every other weekend coverage.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Georgia
• Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, with ICU experience within the last year
• ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Systems & Documentation

• Medication system: Omnicell
• Documentation system: EPIC

Work Rules & Hours

• Called off rules limit hours incrementally per 2-week period (8, 10, or 12 hours max).
• Guaranteed hours: 36 to 48 hours per week depending on shift length.

Required Onboarding & Compliance Documents

• Valid Driver’s License/State ID
• Social Security Card
• Background check within 30 days of start (including SSN trace, 7-year county residence, nationwide search, sex offender search)
• Official transcript or diploma copy
• Photo for badge (passport style, white background, no selfies)
• Facility-specific job description, handbook, dress code acknowledgment, confidentiality agreement, drug and alcohol policy, first day info, scrub info
• Physical exam within 1 year of start (renewed yearly)
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (or documentation for past positive)
• Immunizations or titers for:

  • Rubeola (Measles)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (titer, series completion, or signed declination)
  • Varicella
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap within 10 years (facility-specific declination accepted)
• Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (including Marijuana/THC)
• Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start during flu season (Sept 22 - Mar 31)
• COVID-19 vaccination or approved exemption per facility policy

Orientation & Testing Requirements

• EPIC testing on day 1
• Pass/fail exams during orientation:

  • Medication exam (required for all RNs)
  • EKG exam (required for ICU, MS, Tele, ER, L&D, Step Down, Hemodialysis units)
  • Critical Care exam (BKAT) for ICU units (except NICU, Tele, Step Down)
• Dysrhythmia guide and testing required for MS, MS/Telemetry, Hemodialysis/Dialysis units
• NIH Stroke Certification required for ICU
• Competency check-off and acknowledgment of pass/fail testing required prior to start

Additional Notes

• Facility is sensitive to Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) orders; redirection may occur.
• Mask fit testing completed at orientation.
• Scrub colors vary by unit; scrubs provided for OR and CVOR.
• References: 2 professional references required.
• Employment application required.
