Registered Nurse - Endoscopy (Travel/Contract)
Location: Seattle, Washington
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
- Role involves working in Endoscopy with sedation experience required.
- Conscious sedation certification is highly preferred.
- Must be proficient in telemetry (Tele) including interpretation and management of dysrhythmias (Relias test required).
- Float required across intake, sedation, and post-procedure areas.
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- Intake area: 1:1
- Sedation area: 1:1
- Post-procedure area: 1:2
- CRNAs available for patients requiring MAC sedation.
- Shift: 4 days per week, 10-hour day shifts (8:30 AM - 7:00 PM), with possible early start (7:30 AM) if notified.
- On-call requirement: 1-2 weekend or holiday shifts per month.
- Weekend requirement: 1 weekend call shift per month.
- No block scheduling accommodations.
- Locals accepted; no local radius rule.
- Facility may call off 1 shift per 2-week pay period.
- Float required within endoscopy procedural and pre/post areas.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Washington.
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
- Minimum 2 years of Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) experience, with at least some experience within the last year.
- Conscious/procedural sedation experience.
- Endoscopy experience.
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system.
- ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
Competencies & Testing
- Relias Advanced Dysrhythmia Exam (pass with 80% or higher, max 2 attempts) required prior to start.
- Conscious Sedation Competency Exam required for GI Lab/Endoscopy.
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required (80% minimum in dosage calculations).
- Orientation testing is pass/fail with 80% passing score.
Facility & Work Environment
- Magnet-designated, teaching hospital, Level I Trauma center.
- Preference for candidates with experience in high volume, high acuity, teaching, and trauma settings.
- Unit staffed with 4 beds.
- Charting system: Epic (hard stop).
- Daily onsite parking available (fees apply).
- Offsite parking with shuttle service available on weekdays.
Background Checks & Compliance
- 7-year criminal background check required within 45 days of start, including nationwide, sex offender, FACIS Level 1, and state-specific searches.
- Education verification required for Med Lab Techs (not applicable here).
- WA WATCH search required for Washington state.
- Drug screen within past 12 months required (pending drug screens at discretion).
- 2 professional references required.
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year prior to start recommended (not required by facility).
- Mask fit test within 12 months required (specific mask models).
- Immunizations or titers required:
- Tdap (within 10 years) or declination with acknowledgment.
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: titer or 2 vaccines after 1968 and after 12 months of age, or declination.
- Hepatitis B: positive titer or completed vaccine series with re-titer, or declination.
- Varicella: titer or 2 vaccines or declination.
- Annual TB questionnaire required; Qgold, Tspot, or 2-step PPD within 90 days of start (with grace period for pending results).
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Sept 29 - Mar 31).
- COVID vaccination or declination required for tracking purposes.
Facility-Specific Documents & Requirements
- Badge photo required (professional, waist-up, clear lighting, simple background).
- Must sign facility-specific job description, license acknowledgment, equipment safety form, health history form, policies and procedures acknowledgment, PCIS agreement, personal data form, and code of conduct acknowledgment.
- Completion of annual stroke education modules required for RNs working in neuro and related units.
- WA multi-state licensed nurses must complete suicide prevention training and demographic attestation prior to start.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must complete all pending license requirements, including fingerprinting, prior to starting.
- Relias EKG exam and Tele Study Guide provided to prepare for dysrhythmia competency exam.
- Facility allows no more than 6 days off between return-to-office (RTO) days.
This position is ideal for experienced acute care RNs with sedation and telemetry skills seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, teaching, and trauma environment.
