Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Prestonsburg, Kentucky
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 or 4 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Summary

• Registered Nurse position on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit.
• Night shift coverage with options for 3 or 4 shifts per week.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Kentucky.
• Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in Medical/Surgical Telemetry.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement.

Required Documentation & Compliance

• Unexpired government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
• Background checks including:

  • 2020 Appalachian Regional Bundle with 9 Panel (no THC) plus expanded opiates and oxycodone.
  • National Criminal Search, Social Security & Address Trace, Sex Offender, Fugitive, Violent Offenders, County Searches (last 7 years), FACIS 3 equivalent, SAM (EPLS), OIG, OMIG, OFAC, Social Security Verification.
• Education verification.
• Employment application/resume with education and work history.
• 7-year work history verification through a 3rd-party vendor or attestation letters if needed.
• Two professional references within 1 year of start date (one must be a supervisor or higher; Charge RN acceptable for one reference).
• Annual skills checklist.
• Facility-specific signed and dated job description, renewed annually.
• Employee health attestation and compliance with facility health requirements.

Health & Immunization Requirements

• Annual physical exam or physician note within 1 year prior to start, stating clearance to work without restrictions.
• Fit mask test completed onsite (PAPRs not accommodated; religious/medical exemptions reviewed onsite).
• Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination valid within 10 years (Td not accepted; declinations accepted if within 1 year of start).
• Negative TB test via QuantiFERON blood test within 1 year prior to start (T-Spot/PPD NOT accepted). For positive TB history, chest X-ray within 5 years plus TB questionnaire required.
• Proof of immunity or vaccination for:

  • Measles (Rubeola) – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Mumps – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Rubella – 2 MMR vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Varicella – 2 vaccinations or positive titer.
  • Hepatitis B – Series, titer, or declination within 1 year of start.
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1–3/31). Exemptions must be approved through facility process within 48 hours of offer acceptance.
• Drug testing within 30 days of start using the specified Appalachian Regional 9 Panel bundle (no THC) with expanded opiates and oxycodone; annual updates required.

Additional Requirements

• Compliance with facility-specific policies including fit test policy, badge instructions, and employee health documentation uploads.
• Completion of required competency exams and certifications prior to start or as specified.
• Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Blue Card required only for ER and Psych/Behavioral Health (not applicable here).
