Registered Nurse - Emergency Room (Night Shift)

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
  • Weekend Requirement: 2 weekend shifts or 4 weekend days every 6 weeks
  • Holidays: As needed
  • No on-call required
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience required
  • First-time travelers are welcome

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all ER RNs)
  • Pass/Fail EKG/Dysrhythmia Exam (must pass with minimum 82%, 2 attempts allowed)
  • EPIC system proficiency required
  • CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute), PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support), and TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

Required Licenses and Verifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for North Carolina with primary source verification within 30 days of start
  • NURSYS verification required within 60 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Social Security Card (required for badge issuance)
  • Education Verification: Associate’s degree in nursing or higher required; foreign equivalency evaluation if education obtained outside the U.S.
  • Employment Application/Resume with 7-year work history
  • Verification of all employment within the last 5 years through a third-party vendor
  • Two supervisory references required (one within 12 months, one within 24 months prior to start)

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Background check within 60 days covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years, including aliases, national criminal, sex offender, federal court, and education verification
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 40 days of start (includes THC, opiates, cocaine, amphetamines, etc.)
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (adult vaccine proof required)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer proof
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year and updated annually (N95 respirators approved)

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of mandatory questionnaire prior to offer
  • Flexibility with scheduling; zero tolerance for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Pass Fail EKG exam required for all RNs regardless of specialty
  • Badge photo meeting strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing) must be submitted prior to clearance
  • Facility-specific documents including health history form, affiliate packet, floating policy, and contractor equipment acknowledgement must be reviewed and signed
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed before arrival
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal

Preferred Experience

  • Previous Charge RN experience
  • Level 2 Trauma experience

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Notes

  • Fingerprinting required only for Home Health and Long-Term Care positions (not applicable here)
  • EPIC test: 2 attempts allowed; additional attempts may be granted onsite at manager’s discretion
  • Candidates must be aware of all job requirements and compliance deadlines prior to submission
