Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse - Emergency Room

Location

  • Madison, Wisconsin

Employment Type

  • Travel/Contract

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Work Schedule

  • Evening/Night shifts, primarily 12-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM or 3:00 PM to 3:30 AM
  • Weekend and holiday rotation based on operational needs

Required Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience with adult and pediatric populations within the last 3 years

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system
  • Must pass a Telemetry test prior to start

Required Licenses and Certifications

  • Wisconsin RN license or Compact RN license
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) - American Heart Association (AHA) only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - AHA only
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA only
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)

Required Testing and Compliance

  • Telemetry pass/fail testing (Adult Telemetry test prior to start; Pediatric Telemetry during orientation if applicable)
  • Background checks including:
    • Nationwide criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in the past 7 years
    • Sex offender registry check
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks monthly after hire
  • Wisconsin Caregiver Background Check and BID form (state-mandated)
  • Drug screening per Vaya standard (clinical candidates)
  • Education verification as applicable
  • Physical exam (to meet agency standard, not facility required)
  • Immunizations and health documents including:
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray with TB questionnaire updated annually
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titers, with medical or religious exemptions accepted
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer, with exemptions accepted
    • Hepatitis B vaccination series or declination form if declining
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption (required annually during flu season)
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccination proof (if applicable)
    • Meningococcal vaccine or declination (if working in Microbiology)
  • Photo for badge (passport-style, no selfies or headwear except for religious/medical reasons)

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Wisconsin
  • Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Experience working with adult and pediatric patients
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
  • Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Skills checklist annually
  • Employment application and 2 clinical references within the last 3 years
