Job Description

The Certified Surgical Tech (CST) is responsible for:

• Assessing the needs of surgical patients before and during procedures.
• Maintaining patient safety and developing individual care plans.
• Leading the OR team and communicating effectively with patients, families, and other departments.
• Participating in staff development through educational opportunities.

Responsibilities

• 40%: Assess patient needs and develop a specific care plan; implement and evaluate the plan during procedures.
• 30%: Supervise activities in the operating room, anticipate schedule changes, assemble equipment, assist anesthesia, and monitor sterile fields.
• 20%: Communicate with patients, families, physicians, and OR team members.
• 10%: Participate in staff development through in-services and educational meetings.

Submission Requirements

• Experience: 2+ years required, with Level 2 Trauma experience.
• Skills: Proficient in Orthopedics, Vascular, Neuro, General/Gynecology, and Urology.
• Certifications:

  • BLS (AHA) required
  • NBSTSA required
• Additional Documentation:

  • Work history
  • Skills checklist (current to 1 year, pertinent to the specialty)
  • 2 supervisory reference forms (taken within the last two years)
• Location Restriction: Candidates must have a permanent address outside a 50-mile radius of the facility.
