Registered Nurse (RN) - Rehabilitation Med/Surg (Nights)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care combining medical-surgical nursing with intensive rehabilitation for patients recovering from surgery, serious illness, or injury.
• Focus on restoring function and independence through therapies (physical, occupational, speech) and specialized medical/nursing care, often in an inpatient setting.
• May be asked to work as a backup Charge Nurse.
• Coordinate total nursing care for patients and participate in patient and family teaching.
• Provide leadership by collaborating with ancillary nursing and other patient team personnel to maintain professional nursing standards.
• Nurse to patient ratio: 1 to 4/5.
• Average daily patient census: 22.
• Electronic Medical Record system used: Cerner.

Schedule & Work Conditions

• Night shift.
• No block scheduling or schedule accommodations allowed.
• Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at the time of application; no changes allowed after offer.
• Maximum of 5 days RTO allowed during assignment (less preferred).
• Local candidates residing within 50 miles are not eligible.
• Candidate must have their own vehicle due to lack of public transportation.
• 8 hours of non-billable orientation required.

Required Qualifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in New Hampshire or Compact RN license.
• Active American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Active American Heart Association ACLS certification.
• Minimum 2 years recent experience in Medical-Surgical and Rehabilitation nursing.
• Charge RN experience required.
• Previous travel nursing experience of at least 3 months required.
• Willingness to float between Acute Rehab and Med Surg units as needed within scope of practice.
• Work history and skills checklist for Medical Surgical nursing current to within 1 year.
• One supervisory signed reference from within the past two years.
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) strongly preferred.

Additional Notes

• Strict attendance policy: after 3 call-offs, contract may be terminated. Call-offs must be communicated at least 1.5 hours in advance.
• Small community setting with no public transport; personal vehicle is mandatory.
• Scheduling requests must be finalized at submission; no changes allowed after offer or at interview.

• Small community hospital with 25 inpatient medical-surgical beds and a 10-bed inpatient rehabilitation unit.
• Facility includes a therapeutic pool and physical therapy department.
• Located in a historic town with access to outdoor recreation and within driving distance to major cities.
