Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Technologist (Temporary, Evenings)

Job Description

  • Perform diagnostic ultrasound imaging including invasive and non-invasive procedures such as biopsies, routine OB/GYN, limited vascular, abdomen, small body parts, intra-cavity, and color Doppler.
  • Ensure patient safety, mental and physical comfort during procedures.
  • Use strong critical thinking and interpersonal skills to problem-solve and communicate effectively with patients under physical or emotional stress.
  • Follow physicians’ verbal orders and imaging protocols accurately.
  • Work productively in a complex environment including inpatient, emergency department, and outpatient settings, managing multiple priorities.
  • Obtain patient information including identity, history, and review medical records for exam appropriateness and documentation accuracy.
  • Maintain high ethical standards and pursue lifelong learning to stay current with evolving procedures and knowledge.
  • Provide excellent customer service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce quality images by selecting appropriate technical factors, equipment, and transducer settings.
  • Verify patient orders, obtain patient history, explain procedures, and address patient concerns to ensure comfort and confidence.
  • Use independent judgment to determine if images are satisfactory for diagnostic purposes and differentiate normal from pathologic findings.
  • Independently operate sonographic equipment and communicate diagnostic findings.
  • Manage daily department operations including patient scheduling, equipment maintenance, reporting equipment failures, and quality assessment.
  • Maintain a clean work environment and adequate supplies.
  • Perform appropriate sterilization techniques and ensure accurate documentation in paper and electronic formats.
  • Comply with The Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of Ultrasound Technologist experience (highest required years of experience).
  • Proficiency in:
    • General Ultrasound
    • Vascular Ultrasound
    • Abdominal Ultrasound
    • OB Ultrasound
  • Active American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) Certification.
  • Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Recent work history and skills checklist pertinent to Ultrasound (within 1 year).
  • Two supervisory reference forms from the last two years.
  • Must be located outside a 50-mile radius of the facility (local candidates not considered).

  • Work environment includes a full-service hospital with emergency care, trauma center, and specialty care services.
