Job Opportunity: Pathology Assistant (Laboratory) - Temp

Location: Pittsfield, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Position Summary

The Pathology Assistant is responsible for:

• Preparation, gross description, and dissection of surgical pathology specimens
• Performance of postmortem examinations under the medical direction of pathologists
• Implementing hospital and laboratory missions, goals, and objectives

Requirements

• Specialty: Pathology Assistant (Laboratory)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years as a Pathology Assistant
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Certification: (PA)ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) required; equivalent certifications not accepted
• Skills:

  • Independent judgment and initiative to schedule, organize, and plan work
  • Accuracy in specimen collection and labeling
  • Flexibility and adaptability in emergency situations, including working additional hours or shifts
  • Ability to work efficiently, accurately, and alertly for extended periods and under stress
  • Knowledge of HIS and LIS systems and relevant laboratory instrumentation
• Additional:

  • Must have own vehicle
  • Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility
  • All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved at time of application; no more than 5 days of RTO allowed
  • Work history, skills checklist specific to Pathology Assistant, and one supervisory signed reference from the past two years required

Work Environment

• Day shift
• Temp/contract position
• No schedule accommodations will be considered
