Job Description
- Work in an outpatient infusion center specializing in intravenous therapy and oncology treatments.
- Provide care including IV antibiotics, antifungals, steroids, blood transfusions, central venous access maintenance, PICC line placement, IVIG therapy, hydration, IV/IM vitamins, intrathecal pump care, iron infusions, therapeutic phlebotomies, and specialty medication administration.
- Specialty medications include treatments for Crohn’s disease, rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, multiple sclerosis, bone loss, anemia due to chronic kidney disease, allergic asthma, ulcerative colitis, and ALS.
- Facility requires de-escalation training completed prior to onboarding (verbal de-escalation training from approved providers).
- EPIC electronic health record experience is required and must be noted on submission to avoid delays.
- Dress code: Personal scrubs of any solid color, no designs or cartoons; hoodies are not allowed.
- No call responsibilities for this assignment.
- Orientation: 8 hours (non-billable).
- Cancellation policy: Facility may cancel up to 5 shifts during the 13-week contract with 2 hours’ notice.
- Requested time off (RTO) must be submitted and approved before assignment start; no more than 5 days allowed.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York State
- Minimum 2 years of oncology nursing experience, with oncology experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) certification
- Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification
- Completion of de-escalation training from an approved provider prior to assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with ports, fistulas, and catheters
- Infusion nursing experience
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous travel nursing experience preferred.
- BSN degree preferred.
- IV Certification highly preferred.
Additional Notes
- COVID vaccinations are encouraged but not required.
- Facility emphasizes patient care excellence in a community setting.
- No travel candidates from Albany, Columbia, Dutchess, Fulton, Greene, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Ulster, Warren, or Washington counties in New York will be considered.
