Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (Contract)
Location: Juneau, Alaska
Employment Type: Contract Clinician
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Work may include night shifts where the therapist will be working alone.
- Must be comfortable working on and stabilizing infants; acute cases are medivaced out.
- Coordinate patient care with physicians, nurses, families, and other caregivers.
- Assess, recommend, and follow therapy pathways including invasive and non-invasive procedures.
- Perform airway management, intubation assist, mechanical ventilation (high and low flow humidification), medication administration, oxygen therapy, incentive spirometry, PEP therapy, coughing and breathing exercises, chest physical therapy, cardio/pulmonary rehabilitation, and patient education (including smoking cessation).
- Obtain and document diagnostic data such as arterial blood gases, co-oximetry, pulmonary function tests, cardiac stress testing, cardiac event monitoring, pulse oximetry, desaturation studies, and ECGs.
- Use computerized charting and Meditech systems.
Required Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of 18 months recent respiratory therapy experience in an acute care facility; 3 years preferred.Education:
Graduation from an approved school of respiratory therapy accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC).
Associate’s degree in Respiratory Therapy from an accredited college required.Licensure/Certifications:
- Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure and/or Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
- Current BLS for Healthcare Provider CPR.
- NRP certification required prior to start.
- ACLS certification required prior to start.
- PALS certification.
