Assignment Details

• 13-week contract
• Nights, 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• 28-bed 3rd floor Surgical care unit (Med/Surg)

Required Qualifications

• RN license
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• General med-surg experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with surgical population

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:4-5 days, 1:5-6 nights
• Post-surgical patients with drains, chest tubes, and pain management
• RNs are required to titrate drips
• Common drips include analgesics, anticoagulants, and antihypertensives
• Unit is monitored by tele techs in a central monitoring room
• Charge nurse takes an assignment
• Nurse aides are on the unit
• Respiratory support includes NC up to 6L, CPAP, and BiPAP for night use only

Scheduling and Float

• Self-scheduling and block scheduling
• Full-time and part-time staff are expected to self-schedule a minimum of six weekend shifts per six-week schedule
• Holiday requirement applies
• Call or standby is determined by the nurse manager
• May float within Zone 3
• May be asked to float to ICU, PCU/Stepdown, and MS-Tele

Dress Code

• Navy blue scrubs

Orientation

• Clinicians must be in state for the week of orientation, even if first-day modules are completed remotely
• Date and location are assigned during the week of orientation
