Contract

• 13 weeks
• 12-hour night shifts
• 36 hours per week

Unit Overview

• Medical-surgical acute care unit
• 18 beds
• Typical patient mix includes general medical patients with various diagnoses
• Nurse-to-patient ratios: 4–5:1 on days, 5–6:1 on nights

Required Qualifications

• Active Illinois RN license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS certification
• Negative drug screen for all panels
• Must provide the last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off for submission

Preferred Qualifications

• ACLS preferred for Charge RN position
• 1+ year of hospital experience preferred

Clinical Responsibilities

• Titrate heparin drips
• Attempt IV starts and use unit resources if unsuccessful
• Care for patients with oxygen needs up to 6L nasal cannula and stable BiPAP/CPAP at night or as needed

Scheduling and Work Expectations

• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No call requirement
• Floating to other units as needed is expected

Additional Notes

• Any color scrubs are allowed; staff provide their own
• Orientation is typically one 12-hour shift with a unit preceptor
• Telemetry is monitored remotely by a house-wide telemetry department
• Pharmacy prepares all medications
• Hospitalist and intensivist coverage is available 24/7
