ER Registered Nurse Travel Assignment - Wisconsin

Job Overview

• Position: ER Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Hayward, Wisconsin
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
• Facility Type: Critical access hospital with a 12-bed ER and 2 trauma rooms
• Trauma Level: Level 4 (not STEMI or Stroke center)
• Patient Volume: About 15,500 ER visits per year (~40 patients/day)
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Rotating holidays
• Call/Standby: None
• Floating: Not required for ER travelers

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of ER nursing experience (including urgent care experience)
• Certifications:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) preferred
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) preferred
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) is a plus
• Must be trained or willing to be trained in triage

Work Environment & Details

• Separate triage area present
• ER holds are intermixed within the ER
• Behavioral health ligature-safe room available
• Security coverage in-house at night and on weekends
• Nurse-to-patient ratios:

  • Overnight (11pm-8am): 2 RNs
  • Day (8am-8pm) and evening (11am-11pm): Additional RN added
• ED Physician coverage 24/7; mid-level providers during peak times
• House Supervisor always present but not required to take assignments
• Patient care techs available (nurse aides/EMT/paramedics/patient sitters)
• Respiratory Therapist available as needed, not 24/7 in ER
• RT assists with ventilators; RNs provide support as well
• No monitor techs; Mindray monitors used
• X-Ray and CT available adjacent to ER
• Both phlebotomy and RNs draw labs
• Scrub color/dress code: Charcoal/pewter gray scrubs, any style
• Orientation tailored to individual needs
• No self-scheduling; block scheduling possible upon request

• The area offers outdoor activities including extensive hiking trails
