Registered Nurse (OR) - Surgical Services
Location: Ketchum, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday
Hours: 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM), 40 hours per week
Job Overview
- Position for an experienced Operating Room (OR) nurse in a small hospital setting.
- Call required:
- Weeknight call 4 times per month (3:30 PM – 7:00 AM next day)
- One full weekend call per month (7:00 AM Saturday – 7:00 AM Monday)
- Possible holiday call assignments
- Must be within 30 minutes of the hospital while on call.
Unit Details
- Surgical Services, OR Floor 2
- 4 OR suites plus 1 Endoscopy suite
- Average of 8 cases per day
- EMR system: Epic
- Additional systems: TDOC (instrument tracking), ProVation (Endoscopy)
- Orientation: 5 days with a preceptor covering unit norms and system values
- Dress code: Blue scrubs provided, OR shoes required
Case Mix
- Orthopedics (total joints, sports medicine, hands, trauma)
- General surgery
- Gynecology and C-sections
- Endoscopy
Required Qualifications
- Active Idaho RN license
- BLS certification required; ACLS recommended
- Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience
- Strong background in Orthopedics and Sports Medicine
- Experience with Robotics, Endoscopy, and C-sections required
- Prior travel nursing experience required (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
Additional Information
- Scrubbing by RNs is not required; CSTs and RNs scrub, with orderlies assisting in room turnover
- OR team covers Endoscopy; CSTs must have SPD and high-level disinfection experience
- Charge nurse and house supervisor roles are staffed separately
- Fast-paced environment in a resort town with robust surgical services
- Must commit promptly to assignment with written confirmation of housing research and pay package approval
This position is ideal for an experienced OR nurse with a strong orthopedic and surgical background who has prior travel nursing experience and is ready to work in a dynamic, fast-paced surgical environment.
