NTICU RN

Overview

• Location: Rockford, Illinois
• Contract length: 13 weeks
• Shift: Nights
• Hours: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours per week
• Local placements accepted within a 50-mile radius

Required Qualifications

• Active IL license or confirmation that the application process has been initiated
• BLS (AHA)
• ACLS (AHA)
• NIHSS
• Must be comfortable with vent management and medication titration
• Must have experience with art lines and central lines

Preferred Qualifications

• PALS
• CRRT experience
• EVD/ICP experience

Unit Details

• Nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:2-3
• Charge nurse is present 24/7 and ideally does not take patients, but may when necessary
• CNAs are staffed
• No monitor tech on the unit
• Central monitors are on the unit and in rooms
• RT manages equipment
• Hospitalist is in house 24/7
• eICU is available after hours for pulmonary

Clinical Scope

• Complex trauma: head, chest, ABD, ortho trauma
• Stroke, IV tPA, thrombectomy, embolization, aneurysm coiling
• Adult complex burns and pediatrics up to 18-20% BSA without respiratory involvement
• General medical and surgical patients requiring critical care
• CRRT, EVDs, ICP monitoring
• All common ICU drips
• All common RT equipment in the ICU

Scheduling and Logistics

• Every other weekend required
• Every other holiday required
• No call or standby requirement
• Floating expected throughout the house except ER and OB
• If floated to MedSurg, ratio is capped at 1:4
• Unit orientation: 1-2 shifts
• Non-billable orientation hours: 12 hours
• Drug screen required
• Submission requires last four digits of SSN, middle initial, and requested time off

Dress Code

• Any color professional scrubs
• Scrubs are provided for burn patient care and dressing changes
