Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse (Labor & Delivery)

Location: Omaha, Nebraska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Specialty

  • Labor & Delivery (L&D)
  • Must have at least 2 years of Labor & Delivery experience (higher experience requirement confirmed)
  • Ability to independently manage antepartum and laboring patients
  • Experience with inductions, vaginal deliveries, c-section deliveries and recoveries, OB circulations, and high-risk OB patients
  • Ability to provide couplet care (labor and post-partum) and float between units

Job Description

  • Care for patients undergoing inductions, vaginal deliveries, c-section deliveries, and recoveries
  • Manage antepartum and high-risk obstetric patients
  • Work with a variety of cultures in a 10 labor bed and 16 post-partum bed unit
  • Follow AWHONN staffing guidelines
  • Collaborate with OB tech, PRN nurse aides, and second tech support
  • Use of EPIC electronic medical records system is highly desired
  • Administer medications such as oxytocin, magnesium, fluids, epidurals, and blood pressure medications
  • Use IV pumps and sequential compression devices (SCDs)
  • Maintain patient oxygen saturation levels (typically around 98%)

Schedule

  • 12-hour shifts: 6:30 AM - 7:00 PM or 6:30 PM - 7:00 AM
  • Work 2-3 shifts on the floor
  • Every third weekend required, with possible every other weekend depending on need
  • Orientation includes classroom training followed by 2-3 shifts on the floor

Certifications Required

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)

Additional Requirements & Policies

  • Must pass a pass/fail exam during orientation with a minimum score of 90%
  • Radius rule: Candidates must live within 50 miles and cannot be currently employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with certain affiliated facilities
  • Driver’s license required to verify distance
  • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to comply may result in contract termination
  • Navy blue dress code for 12-hour night shifts

Preferred Qualifications

  • EPIC experience strongly preferred
  • Bonus if able to provide post-partum care
