Position Overview

Duties & Responsibilities
- Assess patients and plan treatments based on physician orders and evaluations
- Establish treatment goals and methods
- Set up equipment and administer treatments including:
- Oxygen therapy, humidity therapy, airway management, resuscitation
- Mechanical ventilation, postural drainage, chest physiotherapy
- Bipap, Cpap, nebulizers, inhalers
- Arterial Blood Gases (ABGs)
- Perform non-ER EKGs (Jefferson: outpatient/inpatient; Berkeley: off-hours and weekends, excluding ER)
- No Pulmonary Function Tests (PFTs) required; focus on clinical RT duties
Scheduling & Shifts
- Typical schedule: 3 days per week, rotating weekends
- Shift hours: 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM
- Weekend and holiday rotations every other weekend/holiday
- Call coverage: From 7 PM Friday to 7 PM Sunday; all department members share call shifts (Fri night, Sat day/night, Sun day)
- Staffing:
- Jefferson: 2-3 RTs on days, 2 on nights
- Berkeley: 6 RTs on days + PFT person, 4 RTs on nights
Orientation & Floating
- Orientation: Approximately 3 twelve-hour shifts
- Floating: Jefferson ICU RT covers ER; other RT covers MedSurg
- Berkeley RTs have specific assignments (ER, ICU, 2nd floor)
Additional Notes
- Must have a valid driver’s license with an address outside 50 miles from the facility
- COVID-19 vaccine required (2 doses Moderna/Pfizer or 1 dose J&J) unless approved exemption
