Respiratory Therapist Job Opportunity

Location: Cheyenne, Wyoming
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Certifications Required

• ACLS
• BLS
• NRP (Required)
• PALS (Preferred/Bonus)

Experience Requirements

• No specific years of experience required at this time
• Prior travel experience: Not required

Department & Patient Population

• Department: Respiratory Therapy (RT)
• Patient types: Adults, Pediatrics, Neonates (high acuity neonates are vented and shipped out; babies stay on CPAP)
• Unit: ICU (15 beds), Pediatric floor, ER, Inpatient only (no outpatient or sleep lab required)

Job Duties

• Administer treatments including inhalers, ventilator management (vent ratios vary from 1:1 to 1:6)
• Draw ABGs using EPOC device (competency required)
• Perform EKGs as needed
• Assist with intubations (not required to intubate independently)
• Assist with bronchoscopy using bronch adapter
• May assist with patient transports using Parapack
• Charge RT attends high-risk deliveries

Scheduling & Shifts

• Shift times: 05:30 - 18:00 (day and night shifts)
• Scheduling: Block scheduling with some self-scheduling allowed (starting April 2023)
• Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday requirement: None mandatory, may be asked if staffing needs arise
• Call/standby: None required
• Floating: Will assist throughout the hospital as needed

Orientation & Training

• Department-specific orientation: 2 shifts (days)

Equipment Used

• Ventilators: Puritan Bennett 980, Draeger (nursery), DreamStation, V30, EV300, V60 (HFT option used during COVID)
• CPAP/BiPAP: Phillips
• High Flow: Optiflow
• Transport: Parapack

Additional Notes

• Permanent address must be at least 25 miles from facility
• Staff fluctuates based on patient load (e.g., 13 patients to 5 patients after first round)
• Friendly and welcoming staff
• Emphasis on timely reporting of critical labs and strict hand hygiene
• Dress code: Royal Blue scrubs with facility logo
