Job Opportunity: Labor & Delivery RN
Location: Show Low, Arizona
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour night shifts (6 PM - 6 AM), 3 shifts per week
Start Date: ASAP
Orientation: Every Monday
Weekend Requirement: Minimum 3 weekend shifts per 4-week schedule
Floating: May float to Emergency Department or Medical-Surgical units if experienced
Job Description
This position is for a Labor & Delivery Travel Nurse at a regional hospital in Arizona. The unit includes:
- 7 Labor & Delivery beds
- 2 Triage beds
- 10 Postpartum beds
- Approximately 1-3 births per day (about 830 births per year)
- Nurse-to-patient ratio typically 1:2
Nurses will care for high-risk OB patients and must be proficient in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress. The unit does not have an in-house OB/Neonatologist, so nurses must be skilled in assessment and able to handle OB emergencies until providers arrive. Couple care may be required depending on census.
Required Qualifications
- Active Arizona RN license or compact license
- Minimum 3 years of Labor & Delivery nursing experience (including C-section experience)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring (AWHONN preferred)
- Proficiency in fetal monitoring and managing fetal distress
- Ability to care for patients with pre-eclampsia and other high-risk conditions
- Experience working in a setting without in-house OB/Neonatologist coverage
- Ability to function in both Labor & Delivery and couplet care settings

- Support staff includes Respiratory Therapist (24/7), Patient Care Technicians, OB scrub techs, and Health Unit Secretaries
- Call requirement: one shift per 4-week schedule
