Registered Nurse (Med/Surg) - Labor Pool
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a Med/Surg Registered Nurse for day shifts on a 17-week contract. This position is part of a Labor Pool with floating assignments across various units including Med/Surg, Ortho/Neuro, Oncology, Acute Care, and others. Flexibility with changing assignments during shifts is required.
Unit & Work Environment
- Unit: Labor Pool
- Nurse to patient ratio: Approximately 1:6
- Nurse Aides/CNA support available (ratios generally 1:8 to 1:10)
- Weekend requirement: Every other weekend
- On-call requirement: Low census on-call
- Holiday schedule: Rotates with permanent staff
- Typical shifts: 12-hour day shifts starting at 06:45
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
- Telemetry monitored on different units
- Ventilator support includes BIPAP, CPAP, vapotherm, Draeger (vent use limited to certain units)
- Respiratory Therapy available 24/7
- Pharmacy available 24/7
- IV Team: None, but PICC lines are used
- C-section experience: Not required
- Floor-specific orientation provided
- Floating required to multiple specialty areas including ICU, ED, Cardiology
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Med/Surg patients with a variety of diagnoses
- Floating to specialty areas such as Ortho, Neuro, Oncology, Acute Care, ICU, ED, Cardiology
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) required for ICU/ED areas
- ASLS (Acute Stroke Life Support) and NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) required depending on unit:
- ICU/ED: BLS, ACLS, ASLS, NIHSS
- Med/Surg: BLS, ASLS or NIHSS
- Experience with Meditech EMR system preferred
- Charge nurse experience: 1 year across all units preferred
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of nursing experience without prior travel assignments OR
- Minimum 2 years of nursing experience plus completion of at least 1 prior travel assignment (prior travel experience required)
- Must be flexible with floating and changing assignments during shifts
- Must comply with a strict 75-mile radius rule for travel
Additional Information
- Interview process includes a single interview with a recruiter RN; no second interview required
- Location details: Albany, GA (population ~80,000), approximately 175 miles from Atlanta, GA
- Weekend and holiday rotations with permanent staff
- Must be adaptable to a dynamic work environment with multiple unit assignments
This job is ideal for experienced Med/Surg RNs who have prior travel experience or significant clinical experience and are comfortable working in a flexible, multi-unit labor pool setting.
