Registered Nurse (Emergency Room) - Arizona, Yuma
Contract Length

Job Description
- Work in a Level 2 Trauma Emergency Room with 20 beds and 2 trauma bays.
- Facility includes 6 fast track beds and two quick-look triage areas using ESI.
- Emergency Department treats approximately 300 patients per day.
- Patient ratios:
- Medical: 1:5
- Urgent Care: 1:2-3
- Fast Track: 1:6
- No seclusion rooms; security is onsite 24/7.
- ED staffed with physicians, mid-level providers, and pediatric board-certified staff on varied shifts.
- Charge nurse role is not assigned; house supervisor available for assistance.
- Support staff includes ED techs (with 2+ years experience) and patient care assistants.
- Respiratory therapists available 24/7 with equipment including Glidescope, Hamilton and Phillips ventilators.
- Dedicated CT and X-ray in the ER; transport team available for critical patients.
- Labs drawn by ED techs or RNs; no phlebotomy staff.
- Shift start times vary (7am, 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 3pm) with modified self-scheduling.
- Weekend requirement: 4 weekend shifts per 4-week block.
- Holiday requirement: Typically 2 shifts out of 5 (including eves).
- Floating: Shared schedule with main campus ER, typically scheduled ahead, infrequent last-minute floating (15-minute drive).
- Scrub color: Navy blue.
- Orientation includes one day new employee orientation, one day clinical/EMR training, and one day on the floor.
- No 48-hour shift guarantees; no blocked scheduling requests; maximum 5 days of return to office (RTO).
Required Qualifications
- Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) preferred.
- Epic EMR proficiency required with experience within the last two years.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room nursing experience.
- Must have at least 2 years of trauma Level I or II experience within the past 2-3 years (Level III or lower trauma experience not accepted).
- Experience with gunshot wounds and stab wounds is a plus.

- Trauma Level: Level 2 trauma, STEMI and Stroke receiving (stroke interventions transferred out).
- Common patient types: All emergency needs.
- Common drips: ICU-level drips for hold patients with ICU support available.
- Nurses read their own telemetry; monitor techs also available.
