Job Description

Seeking a strong ER Registered Nurse for a small, traveler-friendly facility. Immediate start available.

Shift Details

• Evening and night shifts available:

  • 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • 12:00 PM – 12:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Typical 12-hour shifts:

  • 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
  • 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM
  • 1:00 PM – 1:00 AM
  • 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Weekend: Usually every other weekend
• Holiday: One winter holiday and one summer holiday required

Facility & Unit Information

• State certified Level III trauma center
• Primary Stroke Center certification
• ER beds: 2 triage beds, 2 trauma bays, 7 additional beds
• Separate triage area available; no fast track or separate holding area
• One psych/seclusion room with video monitoring (no audio)
• Security present 24/7, primarily in the ER
• Average patient volume: ~40 patients per day
• Nurse-to-patient ratio: Typically 3-4 to 1 during peak times
• ED physician coverage 24/7 with board-certified physician and mid-level provider (NP or PA)
• Charge nurse present daily; house supervisor available 24/7
• Support staff includes nurse aides, EMTs, paramedics, LPNs, and patient sitters

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

• Approximately 20% pediatric patients
• Common cases: abdominal pain, falls, chest pain
• Common IV drips: antibiotics, cardiac medications, heparin, TPA, insulin

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course)

Experience Requirements

• Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department nursing experience preferred
• Good communication and assessment skills required
• Prior travel experience preferred but not required

Additional Information

• Nurses are responsible for reading their own cardiac monitor strips (Phillips monitors used)
• Respiratory therapists available 24/7 in the ER
• Lab draws performed by both phlebotomy and nurses (nurses draw labs when starting IVs)
• CT and MRI located adjacent to ER; X-ray requires patient transport
• Scrub color: Gray (provided)
• Orientation typically includes 3 shifts paired with another nurse
• No call, standby, or floating requirements
