Behavioral Health Social Worker (LCSW) - Contract Position

Location: Sitka, Alaska
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide direct support to patients and families, including mental health evaluations, crisis counseling, treatment planning, and coordination with community and state resources. Work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to support patients' behavioral health needs and ensure continuity of care.


Licensure & Certifications Required

  • Must have Alaska LCSW license at time of application
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Flu vaccine required
  • NABCS Clearance
  • ICPA Clearance

Experience Required

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in inpatient or outpatient healthcare social work (use 4 years as the requirement)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct mental health evaluations and prepare treatment plans
  • Provide crisis counseling and therapeutic support to patients and families
  • Document psycho-social assessments and treatment plans in compliance with regulatory standards
  • Coordinate discharge planning and referrals for home or social services
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and patient care conferences
  • Manage assigned caseload effectively
  • Advocate and provide outreach to patients with diverse needs, including those with addictions, homelessness, and severe mental illness
  • Collaborate with state and community agencies on behalf of patients
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional communication
  • Use electronic health records and other technology proficiently

Required Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written
  • Ability to work independently and multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of case management principles and community support resources
  • Empathic listening and interpersonal relationship development
  • Proficiency with computers, electronic health records, and related software
  • Ability to maintain documentation compliance and meet deadlines
  • Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills

  • Must live at least 50 miles away from the facility location to be eligible
