Job Opportunity: Medical Laboratory - Histotechnologist (Day Shift)

Location: State College, Pennsylvania
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

8-hour day shift, Monday through Friday
Must be certified as a histotechnologist with ASCP or hold an equivalent certification
Responsible for performing a variety of histological procedures on tissue specimens under supervision
Key duties include:
- Identification and processing of all tissue specimens in anatomic pathology
- Assigning accession numbers and entering patient demographic information accurately
- Assisting pathologists with gross examination and frozen section preparation
- Operating tissue processors and preparing tissue cassettes
- Cutting sections from embedded tissue blocks, staining, and delivering slides for microscopic examination
- Performing special histochemical staining procedures within requested timeframes
- Preparing slides or anatomical material for external laboratory consultation or processing
- Filing and indexing tissue slides and blocks for storage and retrieval, ensuring proper retention and rotation of specimens

Requirements

Certification as a histotechnologist (ASCP or equivalent)
Experience in histological procedures and specimen processing
