Medical Laboratory Microbiologist

Role Overview

• Contract Medical Laboratory Microbiologist in Bethel, Alaska.
• Variable 8-hour shifts: days, evenings, or nights.
• 32 hours per week.
• Contract length: 26 weeks.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or a related field.
• Medical Technologist experience within the last year.
• Medical Technologist (1 year of experience).
• Experience in Supervisory roles.
• Experience as a generalist across lab benches.
• Medical Lab Technician experience.
• Must be board eligible by NCA or ASCP and complete board certification within one year of employment.
• 1 to 3 years of related or progressively more responsible experience in microbiology.
• Certification at MT by ASCP or CLS by NCA within one year of employment.
• Clinical laboratory instrumentation.
• Laboratory generalist.
• Must be capable of working independently and providing direction to Medical Laboratory Assistants.
• Proof of completed COVID vaccinations.
• Immunization documentation for Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Varicella, Measles, Mumps, Rubella, T-Dap, and Polio, or titers and/or historical shot records.
• Copy of photo ID.
• Copy of SSN card.
• Professional license and/or certification.
• Copy of education or transcripts where required.
• Background check results.
• 10-panel drug screen within the last 90 days.
• Competency testing checklist.
• OIG report for all alias names.
• SAM report for all alias names.
• National Sex Offender Registry search for all alias names.
• OSHA report.
• OFAC report.
• Fit test or physical.
• Emergency contact information.
• 3 references.

Housing and Travel

• Private housing is not provided; all housing is shared units.
• Airfare is reimbursed after arrival in Bethel, Alaska.
• Candidate must provide flight itinerary at least 1 week in advance.
• New employee orientation occurs every Tuesday and Wednesday only.
• Returning travelers are not accepted.
• Candidate may not travel until all credentials have been received and cleared.
