Unit Name: TCU
Beds: 20
Patient ratio: 4:1
Unit staffing: Unit Secretary, Nurse Externs (can start IVs), Patient Care Techs (can draw labs), Registered Nurses, Manager, Director
Equipment: ZOLL, Baxter pumps, GE telemetry monitors, iMobile, Hillrom beds, Centrella specialty beds, Kangaroo pumps, Timpani and Inspire App (scheduling)

Schedule

Every other weekend
Holiday or hard-to-fill availability
2 Mondays / 2 Fridays per schedule

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia
2 years of PCU (Progressive Care Unit) experience, with PCU experience within the last year
ACLS certification
BLS certification
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Experience working with cardiac patients
Experience in an acute care setting
Experience with cardiac drips
Experience with BiPAP
Experience with CPAP
High flow experience

Clinical Experience

Patient experience: Acute care / step-down, post-cath without intervention, chest tubes
Procedures on unit: Occasional bedside cardioversion (appropriate Cath Lab staff to recover patient)

Floating Scope

Step-Down units (4:1): PSTU, CSU
Medsurg units (6:1): ONC, CRPU, GSTU, NTU, MCU

Unit Policies

Shift starts promptly at 0700/1900; lateness is not tolerated
Attendance at shift huddle is mandatory
Bedside shift report, including the patient in the conversation, is mandatory for all patients, including isolation patients
Dress code: All navy blue or all white scrubs, closed-toe shoes, no Crocs; facility-branded T-shirts are permitted
