Position Details

Licensure & Certifications

• Required Licensure: Current RN license eligible or active in Missouri
• Required Certifications:

  • BLS (American Heart Association)
  • NIHSS (must be obtained prior to start if not currently held)
• Preferred Certifications: None specified

Experience

• Minimum 1 year of telemetry nursing experience (inpatient only)

Unit Information

• Unit: Medical Telemetry (Med Tele)
• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: Vary by shift; Days 1:5-1:6, Nights 1:6-1:7 (not guaranteed)
• Equipment: Telemetry monitors, lift equipment, IV pumps, tube feeding pumps
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): EPIC
• Float Requirements: Rotational float within the unit

Patient Population

• Medical, medical telemetry, and observation patients

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Stand and walk most of the shift
• Frequent bending, stooping, lifting, and turning patients with assistance
• Physical demands include pushing, pulling, gripping up to 50 lbs, pinching up to 15 lbs, minimal kneeling, crouching, and crawling
• Exposure to blood and body fluids
• May require flexible scheduling based on patient care needs

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care using the nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Coordinate patient care with ancillary departments
• Maintain patient rights and confidentiality
• Uphold professional accountability and adhere to nursing practice standards, Missouri Nurse Practice Act, and facility policies
• Evaluate effectiveness of care provided by self and other caregivers

Dress Code

• Black scrubs only (no other colors permitted)

Additional Notes

• Flu vaccination or approved exemption required for travel period November 1 – April 1 (no declinations accepted)
• Flexible scheduling options available but must be indicated on submission
• Time off requests (RTO) must be made after the first week; only one holiday RTO allowed per assignment
