Job Opportunity: Temporary Registered Nurse (RN) - Pediatrics (Nights)

Job Description

• Small pediatric unit with a maximum census of 3 patients (patient ratio 1:3).
• No call-outs allowed; call-outs will close the unit and impact patient care.
• Backup support available from Family Birthplace staff, respiratory and IV therapists.
• Security badge with panic button provided for immediate help.
• The unit supports family involvement with "rooming in" for parents and has playroom and in-room entertainment for children without contagious illness.
• Block scheduling and extensive requested time off (RTO) will not be approved; no more than 3 days of RTO allowed, with only one holiday approved.
• Local travelers residing within 50 miles will not be considered.
• Traveler must have their own vehicle.

Required Qualifications

• License: Massachusetts Registered Nurse (RN) License (must be active and uploaded).
• Experience: Minimum 3 years of current pediatric nursing experience required.
• Certifications:

  • American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) - active
  • American Heart Association ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) - active
  • American Heart Association PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - active
• Skills checklists for Pediatric and Medical Surgical nursing (current within 1 year) required and must be documented.
• BSN preferred.
• Meditech Expanse experience strongly preferred.
• Adult Medical-Surgical experience preferred (for float coverage).

Additional Information

• Non-billable orientation required (8 hours).
• Overtime and holiday multipliers apply.
• This is a very small unit; reliability and dependability are critical.
